Godiva Liqueur Chocolate Cupcakes

This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)

These Godiva Liqueur Chocolate Cupcakes are made from a vanilla cupcake recipe which is brushed with Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur and topped with a cocoa buttercream flavored with the same liqueur.

You can use any chocolate liqueur, or any other flavor you choose, actually. These can be made in the same manner with a berry flavored schnapps, or with Kahlua.

I know this is a question, maybe someone could answer below. Could I put the liqueur in the cupcake batter itself, and then brush it on top?

    Hello Emmalee!
I wouldn’t add more than a tablespoon of liqueur in the batter. It will change the consistency of the batter itself, and with baking you don’t want to take a chance. However, you can spoon some liqueur (a little shy of a teaspoon) on top of the cupcakes after they have baked if you don’t have a brush.
Hope this helps! Happy New Year 2013 :)

Can I use unsalted butter in place of the oil?

Hi Gale! We wouldn’t recommend using butter at all! Vegetable oil is often used in cupcake batters as it gives the batter an airy and fluffier texture than when using butter.
