Father’s Day is coming this weekend, so what better motive to launch our new Happy Hour section than to honor Dad. We chose this cocktail, The Godfather, because it is a vintage drink from the 1970’s era named after the popular film The Godfather. Personally, one of my favorite film collections, and also my husband’s. If you want to celebrate Dad and he happens to enjoy whisky on the rocks, this might be up his alley.
It is traditionally made up of equal parts of scotch whisky and amaretto liquor, served on the rocks. You might find the 50-50 ratio to be too sweet, so we would recommend you try this blend that dials down the sweetness.
This is a strong, slow sipping drink in which you could try your favorite scotch whisky brand. We used Johnny Walker Double Black for ours.
How do you spell it? whisky or whiskey? I did a little reasearch, and it turns out that Scottish, Japanese and Canadian producers spell their product as whisky, while producers from the United States, and Ireland spell it as whiskey. So, now you know.
Stay tuned for many more drink and cocktail recipes to come in our new Happy Hour section!
