Whisky Lemonade

A twist on the classic highball, which consists of whisky and soda served over ice in a tall glass. Our recipe combines The Singleton Whisky, which has notes of orange zest spiciness with a malty core of nuts, oak, and toffee is combined with our lemon and ginger infused simple syrup which complements the tasting notes to make this Whisky Lemonade

Scotch Whisky Lemonade

To make the simple syrup, combine equal parts of sugar and water, say ½ a cup of each with a few pieces of lemon peel and 2 or 3 slices of fresh ginger. Bring it to a simmer just to combine the sugar and water until it is completely dissolved. Turn the stove off, cover the pot, and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain and when cooled store in a bottle and refrigerate for up to a week.  You will only use about ½ to 1 ounce for each drink.

The result is a refreshing sparkling drink with a hint of lemon and ginger that all whisky lovers will enjoy.

Whisky Lemonade

Makes 1 drink

Ingredients:
¾ oz. (20 ml) lemon and ginger syrup
1½ oz. (50 ml)The Singleton Single Malt Scotch Whisky
100ml sparkling water
Lemon wheel
Ice cubes

Ingredients for lemon and ginger syrup:
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of water
2 pieces of lemon peel
2-3 slices of fresh ginger

Preparation:

  1. Pour The Singleton Single Malt Scotch Whisky over plenty of ice.
  2. Add lemon and ginger syrup: to make it, in a small pot combine sugar and water and bring to a simmer just until the sugar dissolves. Add the lemon peel and ginger slices, remove from the heat, and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain and let cool. Keep refrigerated for up to a week.
  3. Top with sparkling water, then garnish with a lemon wheel or slice.
