Little Foodies: Apple & Peanut Butter Pupcakes

This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)

We just celebrated our pet’s 4th Birthday. I know that anybody who owns and loves their pet share the feeling that they are part of the family, so why not make something special to celebrate they are part of it? They are unconditionally there for you, greeting you excitedly when you come home from work, they keep you company and… if they’re anything like our little minpin, they’ll snuggle with you at night.

We couldn’t imagine life without our Fiona, neurotic as she is. She throws a barking fit when she hears the bell ring, which is annoying as hell… but we love her. She’s so over-protective of us and her space that it takes her a few minutes to simmer down when people come over, which can be a pain… but we love her.

As her birthday approached, Kristen came up with the idea to bake her a treat. We usually buy her organic apple doggie treats from our favorite shop, but for this special occasion she wanted to treat her to something made by us. I did a little investigating, and found a recipe with ingredients that I know won’t upset her stomach, so here they are: Apple-Peanut Butter Pupcakes.

These are very easy to make, and it’s an exciting project for the kids. We used baby food for the apple sauce, and I was surprised to see how well they domed as they baked…and how good they smelled. Honestly, I was worried when we were making the batter, it seemed too thick. I wondered if the recipe was wrong, and maybe needed more liquid in it, but they came out perfectly. Don’t worry about the consistency.

Fiona was jumping around when we were preparing the batter, as if she knew it was for her.  She kept a close eye on us all the time, and couldn’t wait to get her paws on one of them. When she finally got to try one, she happily gobbled it up, and we didn’t notice any change in her digestion.. if you know what I mean.  These were perfectly safe for our pet,and she loved them. We hope you try them!

Ask your Vet if these are ok for your pet!
