Asian Style Beef with Green Beans

This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)

This is one of those recipes that we turn to when we know we need to have the food ready and we don’t have much time. Or we just want to get out of the kitchen fast. You can prepare it with ground beef, we recommend that you choose lean meat. Or, you can mix it with ground pork, our favorite way to make this dish.

Asian Style Beef with Green Beans

The recipe calls for soy sauce, but even so, we season the ingredients as we go along with a light amount of salt so that the meat and green beans are well seasoned. Taste and add it to your liking.
To serve it we like to pair it with rice or lettuce leaves to make wraps. It is perfect with a simple cucumber salad as an additional accompaniment.

Asian Style Beef with Green Beans

A Foodies’ Kitchen recipe
6 to 8 servings

Ingredients:
2 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 lb  fresh green beans cut into chunks
1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb lean ground pork
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 teaspoons minced ginger
salt and pepper
6 scallions
sesame oil, to taste
sesame seeds, to taste
chili garlic sauce (optional)
Rice or lettuce cups for serving

Preparation:

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large nonstick skillet or wok. Add in the green beans and sauté for 3 minutes until crisp-tender. Season lightly with salt and transfer to a plate.
  2. Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Once hot, add in the ground beef and pork. Brown the meat, breaking it up into small crumbles with a wooden spoon, until cooked through. Season lightly with salt. Add the whites and light green parts of the scallions.
  3. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Return green beans to the skillet, along with the brown sugar, soy sauce, and ginger. Season with sesame oil salt and pepper, to taste. Simmer for 2 more minutes to blend the flavors. Remove from the heat and toss in the green parts of scallions and sesame seeds.
  4. Serve over hot rice or over lettuce.
