Sips & Bites: Roncoco
This post is also available in ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)
September in Guatemala is a time of celebration—our streets are filled with color, music, delicious typical recipes that fill us with joy as we honor Independence Day. And what better way to toast the occasion than with a cocktail that highlights one of Guatemala’s – and one of the world’s-finest rum, Ron Botrán.
We used Ron Botrán Cristalino for this recipe, the refreshing mix of rum, coconut water, and lime is light, crisp, and effervescent—perfect for raising a glass to our traditions while savoring a modern twist. It’s a sip of heritage in every pour, with just enough sparkle to keep the celebration going.
A little bartender secret for this cocktail is the use of a saline solution (20% salt) — a simple mixture of water and salt that enhances the flavors and balances the sweetness, added drop by drop to each cocktail. We prepared it ahead of time, but don’t worry: if you don’t want to measure, just add a tiny pinch of salt directly into the shaker.
