Happy Hour: Cinnamon Rosemary Old Fashioned

This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)

The Old Fashioned is traditionally made by muddling sugar (or syrup) with bitters and adding whiskey and an orange peel as garnish. Served on the rocks, this is a cocktail that has been enjoyed by bourbon lovers for over 200 years.  You can find our basic Old Fashioned recipe here, which we prepared with single malt whisky.

For this variation, we have infused our sugar syrup with fresh rosemary and cinnamon. This elevates the drink and gives it a spicy flavor that is suitable for end-of-the-year celebrations.  We chose Bulleit Bourbon as the base of our cocktail, a rule of thumb is to use a good bourbon, if you wouldn’t sip it, you should not use it to make your Old Fashioned.

Bulleit Bourbon is oaky, and smooth. It has a clean flavor with tones of maple and nutmeg with a long finish with a light toffee flavor. A great choice to try this recipe! If you would like to try more recipes using this bourbon, try our Bourbon Kentucky Mule, find the recipe here.

You can find Bulleit Bourbon and Angostura bitters at Vinoteca stores.
