Mother’s Day Breakfast Board

A breakfast board for Mother’s Day seems like a perfect idea to us!  A cozy brunch at home with the family and there is something for everyone on this board: eggs, bacon, ham, fruit, waffles, jam, cheese, yogurt, bread, loaf cake.
This board is enough for 4 people, so multiply accordingly if you need to make one for a larger crowd. We used two wooden boards as the base, each one measures 9.5 x 14”

We used:

  • 6 jammy eggs, we left them whole because if we cut them in half the yolk would run all over the board. If you make yours hard-boiled, then you can cut each egg in half, and it will fill up your board even more. You can find our how-to for jammy eggs here
  • Bacon: we used 1 pack of 250gms which we cooked using the microwave method.
  • Ham: prosciutto ham is a must for any board, we love it. We used a 12 oz packet of sliced prosciutto, but only used half of it for our board.
  • Cheese: We used a 227-gram tub of ricotta cheese which we placed in a white ramekin and cubed pieces of Gouda
  • Yogurt: natural or Greek yogurt, we filled up a small bowl.
  • Fruit: Our favorites are berries, and they look so pretty on our board! We used blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries. You only need to buy a small pint of each.  We also used green grapes to complete the decoration on our board, about 1 lb should be enough.
  • Jams and Spreads: strawberry jam and Nutella are a must on our board. Honey is also a great addition to use with the ricotta on toast, or for the yogurt. Maple Syrup in a small serving pitcher for the waffles.
  • Bread: We got a pack of bagels, that has 6 units. We only used 3 for our board. We cut each in half and used our toaster oven to make them golden. We also used 1 sourdough loaf of bread that we also toasted in the oven.
  • Waffles: We made one batch of our waffles recipe for our board, but only used about half of them. We froze the other half for later. As you can see, we cut them in half, this helps arrange them better on the board.
  • Sweets: We used a strawberry loaf bread to go next to our board, we sliced it up and served it on a separate rectangular platter.  You can use mini cinnamon rolls, or blueberry muffins as an alternative.

To drink, we made mimosas! So, get your favorite champagne or sparkling wine and some orange juice.

To decorate, we used artificial succulent pieces we like to use to give our table a special touch. You can use fresh flowers or candle votives.

We hope this inspires you to make a special breakfast board. We thought about it to use for Mother’s Day but this is a great board if you feel like having friends over for brunch, or have a special family celebration. Brunch at home with delicious food and the people you love seems like a perfect way to spend the morning.

Tip:

  • We recommend you prepare the waffles the day before, you can heat them in the toaster oven for a few minutes and they will be tasty! Also, have all your fruits washed and ready to eat. That way on the morning of the brunch you only need to prepare the eggs and bacon, the rest will be ready to assemble on the board. It also helps to set the table the night before.

Cheers!

Helga
