Black Sesame Rice Krispies Treats
Makes a tall 8-inch square pan, about 9-12 portions
Ingredients:
1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter
1 ½ teaspoons toasted sesame oil (plus extra for greasing)
3 tablespoons of black sesame seeds
one 250 g bag of marshmallows
½ teaspoon kosher salt (or ¾ teaspoon flaky salt)
4 ½ cups Rice Krispies cereal
Instructions:
- Lightly grease a 8-inch square baking pan with a bit of toasted sesame oil.
- In a medium pot over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the black sesame seeds and continue cooking until the seeds become fragrant and the butter takes on a lightly browned hue.
- Remove from heat and stir in the toasted sesame oil.
- Add marshmallows to the warm butter-sesame mixture. Stir until they melt and become smooth and creamy.
- Sprinkle in the kosher salt and mix to combine.
- Immediately fold in the cereal, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
- Press the mixture into the prepared pan—avoid packing too firmly to keep them chewy.
- Let cool completely before slicing into squares.
