Apple & Cinnamon Chips

This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)

All you need to make this healthy snack is apples and cinnamon. You can use your air fryer to make them in a snap!

For best results, use Washington Granny Smith apples. These have a firmer and crisper texture. You want to avoid using Red Delicious or Fuji apples since they are softer and won’t crisp up the same way.

Slice them as thinly as you can, you can carefully use a mandolin to get the thinnest slices. If you use your knife, make sure it is sharp so you can get the thinnest slices possible. The thinner you go, the crisper your apple chips will be.

You can make these in the oven, on low heat. But it does take a couple of hours, you can see the note at the bottom of the recipe for instructions. So, we do recommend using an air fryer, it only takes 12 minutes in total.

This a healthy snack that you can keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week! And they are delicious

Apple Chips

Ingredients:
4 Granny Washington Apples
Pinch of cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Heat air fryer to 150ºC/300ºF.
  2. Slice the apples, peel, and all, very thinly with a mandolin or a sharp knife.
  3. Add to a bowl, sprinkle the cinnamon on top, and toss to evenly combine.
  4. Add the sliced apples to the air fryer basket in a single layer, try not to overcrowd them. You’ll air fry in 2 batches.
  5. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, tossing the apple slices a few times during the cooking process. Once apples are dry, remove them from the air fryer basket onto a plate and let them cool completely, they’ll crisp up more.
  6. Repeat with a second batch of sliced apples.

Note:

  • To make these in the oven, heat the oven to 100ºC/200ºF. Place apple slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 3 hours until dried out. Remove from the oven onto a wire cooling rack and cool completely before enjoying.
