Happy Hour: Tequila Old Fashioned

One of the drinks we love to prepare for Father’s Day is an Old Fashioned, a classic but sophisticated drink that is just perfection. We have it with both bourbon and whisky but have you ever heard about an Old Fashioned prepared with Aged Tequila?

We recommend making your simple syrup: equal parts of water and white sugar, boiled until the sugar dissolves. When ready, add your simple syrup, bitters, orange juice, and orange peel to a glass. Muddle for a bit, then add the Volcán de Mi Tierra Cristalino Tequila.

Volcán de mi Tierra Cristalino is a fusion of tobacco, dried fruits, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and cooked agave aromas in this unique and elegant style. And by using it to prepare our Old Fashioned, it unveils its best aromas and earthy.

You can get the Volcán de mi Tierra Añejo Cristalino 750ml at the Vinoteca Stores, a perfect idea for Father’s Day. To best serve it, we recommend chocolate, preferably dark and chilled for a complementary treat to our drink.

Happy Hour: Tequila Old Fashioned

Yields 1 cocktail

Ingredients:
2.5 oz. Tequila, Volcán de Mi Tierra Cristalino
3/4 oz. simple syrup
3 drops of Angostura bitters
drops of orange juice (from an orange slice)
Orange peel or thin slice, to garnish
large ice cube

Preparation:

  1. Place simple syrup, Angostura bitters, orange juice, and orange peel in a glass. Muddle for a few seconds.
  2. Add tequila and a large ice cube. Stir for 30 seconds with a cocktail spoon.
